Life in the Diaspora continues to characterize the Jewish
people even today, many years after the establishment of the State of Israel. A
majority of the Jewish people lives in many Jewish communities dispersed all
over the world. While a large part of them are located in the major centers of
Jewish life outside Israel, mainly in North America and Europe, there are
numerous other Jewish communities situated in countries not generally
known as centers of Jewish settlement.
