Beth Hatefutsoth is a cultural and educational institution, sharing the unique story of Jewish endurance and providing multiple avenues of historical identification. Its renowned Permanent Exhibit incorporates all main aspects of Jewish survival and creativity throughout the millenia of Diaspora history. It presents the visitor with the Jewish way of life and history of Jewish communities in diverse countries, illustrated by visually innovative displays and a series of historical reconstructions.

Different subjects of Jewish History and Culture not covered in the Permanent Exhibit are dealt with in the Museum's Temporary Exhibitions, devoted to various aspects of Jewish life and history. Over 120 Temporary Exhibitions have been displayed in the Museum over the past two decades. Many of these exhibitions, which include photographs, objects and original art have traveled to the US, to Europe or other Museums around the world after their initial exhibition in Tel Aviv.
