My Family's Story Competition 2000 - 2001

Over 20,000 students from 7 countries worldwide participated in this year's competition. The final stage of the competition was reach by 380 projects from Israel and abroad. Of them 35 were chosen for the final judging. Every student whose work made it to the final stage of the competition was presented with a personal Certificate of Appreciation from Beth Hatefutsoth.

The final Judging Panel comprised representatives from the Israeli Ministry of Education, from the Douglas E. Goldman Jewish Genealogy Center at Beth Hatefutsoth, and the Education Center of Beth Hatefutsoth.

The awards ceremony for the winners took place on June 12 at Beth Hatefutsoth. The ceremony was attended by Mr. Ron Huldai, Mayor of Tel Aviv-Yaffo, Mr. Sami Shamoon of Yakhin-Hakal, Charmain of the Prof. Yitzhak Halbrecht Fund, Dr. David Alexander, Director-General of Beth Hatefutsoth, foreign diplomats, representatives from the Israeli Education Ministry, educators, students, members of the families, and guests. Guest of Honor of the evening was Prof. Yitzhak Halbrecht.

All family trees submitted by the students have been added to the database of the Douglas E. Goldman Jewish Genealogy Center at Beth Hatefutsoth and will be preserved for future generations.
