During the last years there has been a growing interest in Jewish genealogy in all Jewish communities. As a result the number of Jewish genealogical societies has grown steadily as well as their membership. Veteran genealogist and newly enthusiasts, for the most part volunteers, contribute daily to the preservation of the Jewish family heritage. They accomplish many a wonderful project, among them the publication of various genealogical sources, of magazines and newsletters, and the organizing of lectures and courses in various Jewish genealogy related topics, thus helping to strengthen the interest in the history of the Jewish people. The local Jewish genealogical society many times proves to be first instrumental address for starting the construction of a family tree by providing the first valuable advises and information.
