Friedrich Dessauer
(1881-1963), physicist.

Born in Aschaffenburg, Germany, he worked in the X-ray industry and then became professor of biophysics at Frankfurt am Main. From 1924 to 1933 he was a Center party member of the Reichstag, the German Parliament. When the Nazis came to power he moved to Istanbul, Turkey, where he established the biophysical and radiological institute. In 1937, Dessauer was appointed professor of experimental physics at Fribourg, Switzerland, remaining there until 1950, when he was reinstated in Frankfurt. His books dealt with both scientific and philosophical subjects.
