Egypt 1994
The portrait of President Housni Mubarak, and Jewish symbols - menorah
and Tablets of the Law - are displayed in the library, which is located in
the Sha'ar Hashamayim synagogue, in the section where wedding ceremonies
were once held. The library, which was dedicated on January 24, 1989, is
open to researchers and visitors. It houses some 9,500 books, most of which
deal with kabbala and halacha and the history and heritage of Oriental
Jewry.
