Board of Directors

 

Beit Hatfutsot is a public, not-for-profit organization with private and governmental involvement. Beit Hatfutsot has four shareholders: The State of Israel; The Jewish Agency for Israel/World Zionist Organization; Tel Aviv University; The World Jewish Congress. According to the 2005 Beit Hatfutsot Law, Beit Hatfutsot has the status of National Center for Jewish Communities in Israel and around the world. The directing institutions of Beit Hatfutsot are: The General Assembly – meeting of shareholders of the organization; Board of Governors – the senior representative and policy formulating body; and the Board of Directors – the management body.

• Ms. Dana Azrieli, Representative of the Public
A native of Canada, Danna Azrieli is the owner and Vice Chair of Azrieli Group and Chair of the Azrieli Foundation in Israel. She has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2013.


• Dr. Yohanan Doron, Representative of the Government
A native of Israel, Dr. Yohanan Doron serves as head of the Education Department in Netivot and works as an Academic and Organizational Consultant in regional councils. He formerly served as Director of several high schools and boarding schools. Dr. Doron holds a PHD in Education from the Etvos Lorand ELTE University in Budapest. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2013.


• Rabbi Lior Gabai, Representative of the World Jewish Congress
A native of Israel, Rabbi Lior Gabay is the Founder and CEO of "Neot Margalit", a national network of childcare institutions. Rabbi Gabay is a member of the WJC Executive Committee and has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2010.


• Mr. Gideon Hamburger, Representative of the Public
Gideon Hamburger is President of Harel Group. He is Chair of the Israeli Friends of Beit Hatfutsot, and a member of the museum's Board of Governors. Hamburger has been a member of the Beit Hatfutsot Board of Directors since 2012.


• Mr. Moshe Leshem, Representative of the World Jewish Congress

Moshe Leshem was born in Uzbekistan to a Polish family that escaped with the outbreak of the Second World War. He is a retired Junior General and owner of a consulting firm for business development in South East Asia. Leshem has been representing the World Jewish Congress in the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2011.


• Mr. Nimrod Lev, Representative of the Public

A native of Israel, Nimrod Lev is a leading Internet Entrepreneur. He is founding Director of Inimiti, a Micro Venture Fund, and is on the board of several new media companies. Lev has been a member of the Beit Hatfutsot Board of Directors since 2009.


• Amb. Alfred Moses, Representative of the Public

A native of the USA, Ambassador Alfred Moses is a practicing lawyer and partner at Covington & Burling LLP, and is Chief Operating Officer, Senior Partner and Co-Founder of Promontory Financial Group. He received the "Yakir Beit Hatfutsot" award in 2011, and is Co-Chair of the museum's Board of Governors. Moses has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2013.


• Mr. Yaron Neudorfer, Representative of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization
A native of Israel, Yaron Neudorfer joined Portland Trust as founding CEO of "Social Finance Israel". He formerly served as CFO of the Jewish Agency in Israel, and in different positions at the Ministry of Finance. Neudorfer holds a BA in Economics and Accounting from the Hebrew University, and an MPA from the John F. Kennedy School of Government in Harvard. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2007.


• Mr. Gil Omer, Representative of the Public
A native of Canada, Gil Omer served in various positions in the media, such as Deputy Director of the Israeli news company. Today he is CEO of the Israeli Children's Museum in Holon. Omer has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2008.


• Amb. Avi Pazner, Representative of the Public
Avi Pazner was born in the free city of Danzig. He served as the Israeli Ambassador to Italy and France, and as Chair of Keren Hayesod. He currently owns a company for International consulting and serves as Chair of the Jerusalem International Book Fair. Pazner is a member of the Beit Hatfutsot Board of Governors and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2005.


• Prof. Raanan Rein, Tel Aviv University Representative

A native of Israel, Prof. Raanan Rein is the Sourasky Professor of Latin American and Spanish History, and Vice President of the Tel Aviv University. He is head of the Daniel Abraham Center for International and Regional Studies which he founded. Prof. Rein has been representing the Tel Aviv University in the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2012.


• Dr. Ruth Shamir Popkin, Representative of the Public
A native of Poland, Dr. Ruth Shamir Popkin is a practicing attorney and holds a PHD in Cultural Studies. Her family established The Grunstein-Shamir Foundation for the documentation of Jewish life in Poland, at Beit Hatfutsot. Dr. Shamir Popkin has been active in the museum for over 30 years, and received the "Yakir Beit Hatfutsot" Award in 2008. She is a member of the museum's Board of Governors and has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2008.

 

• Prof. Amy Singer, Representative of Tel Aviv University
A native of the USA, Prof. Amy Singer teaches Ottoman and Turkish history in the department of Middle Eastern and African History at the Tel Aviv University. She has published numerous articles and books in her field of research. Prof. Singer has been representing the Tel Aviv University in the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2012. 
 

• Ms. Judith Stern Peck, Representative of the Public
A native of the USA, Judith Stern Peck is President of the American Friends of Beit Hatfutsot. She is Principal of JSP Associates, a consulting company for family foundations and businesses. She has worked in the voluntary sector since the 1970's, mainly for Jewish causes. Stern Peck is a member of the Beit Hatfutsot Board of Governors, and has been a member of its Board of Directors since 2012.


• Mr. Rani Trainin, Representative of the Jewish Agency and the World Zionist Organization
A native of Israel, Rani Trainin is Acting Deputy Chairman of the Jewish Agency for Israel. He is also head of the Yoav Regional Council and Chairman of the Economics Committee of The Union of Local Authorities in Israel. Trainin is a member of Kibbutz Beit Nir. He has been a member of the Board of Directors of Beit Hatfutsot since 2012.
