The Beth Hatefutsoth Communities database provides information about individual Jewish communities (not countries). It consists of more than 3,000 communities from all over the world with new communities constantly being added. The database includes information about communities that do not exist any more, as well as about communities that still are vibrant today. The aim of the Museum is to document Jewish life in the different communities of the Diaspora in order to preserve it for the future.
The Communities and Family Name databases are accessible to the visiting public and from our website, you can send us a Search Order to request information about specific communities from the database. For further information, contact
