Most likely, you have old group photographs of your family fading out in albums or in boxes. The time has come to save them, and not only for your children, grandchildren and your family’s future generations, but also for the collective memory of the Jewish People. Your family pictures are inestimable documents telling the story, the lifestyle and culture of Jewish communities around the world.
Find old group photos of your family prior to 1940, scan them and attach them to a message sent to Jewish Around the World Facebook page. In the message mention the family name of the family in the photo, the location (town/city, country) and date (year or decade) of the photo. Any other details are welcome.
Your photos will be added to the photo collection of the Oster Visual Documentation Center at Beit Hatfutsot – The Museum of the Jewish People, the largest collection of Jewish photographs boasting over 400,000 items. Selected pictures will be posted on Jewish People Around the World Facebook page.
