Conference: Israel and Jewish Peoplehood

Beit Hatfutsot - The Museum of the Jewish People, The Kantor Center for the Study of Contemporary European Jewry and Nadav Foundation held on December 24, 2013 a conference dedicated to the subject of Israel and Jewish Peoplehood: The place of Israel in the Shaping of Contemporary Jewish Identity.


During the day, four plenary sessions were held: Past and Present of Jewish Peoplehood; Is Israeli Identity equal to Jewish Identity and vice-versa? ; The Influence of Israel and Diaspora interaction on Jewish Identity; and Zionism as Jewish Identity.


The conference, held at the Bnei Zion Auditorium of Beit Hatfutsot was jointly planned and included the following speakers:


Dr. Haim Feirberg  (Tel-Aviv University), Prof. Sergio Della Pergola (Hebrew University in Jerusalem), Rabbi Talia Avnon Benviniste (ISJPS at Beit Hatfutsot), author Gadi Taub, Prof. Gideon Shimoni (Tel Aviv University), Prof. Dina Porat (Kantor Center), Prof. Arik Cohen (Bar Ilan University) and more.
