"Family Matters" – Art Installation by Piven

23 August 2012

"Family Matters" - crowdsourced art installation by Hanoch Piven

Beit Hatfutsot and artist Hanoch Piven invite families from Israel and around the world to participate in a unique crowd sourced art installation. "Family Matters: what families are made of" is a one-of-a-kind initiative, whereby families take an active part in creating a huge art installation at the heart of Beit Hatfutsot - Museum of the Jewish people.

"You Are Part of the Story" – "Family Matters" turns this slogan into reality!
Families will create their family portrait by using the unique Piven methodology - ready-made materials – in a creative workshop. Upon completion you will be invited to reflect on your work, tell your story and define what characterizes you as a family. The portrait will be professionally photographed and each family will receive  a high-quality copy of their portrait. Another copy will be digitally converted into a 10X10cm "pixel", printed at HP Indigo offices in Nes Ziona and become part of the art installation created exclusively by Hanoch Piven. The complete installation will consist of 3,600 family portrait 'pixels', 12 meters wide and 3 meters high.
Now, every family's story – matters!
