Guided Tours

Guided tours of the Museum for individuals, families, and groups of different sizes are available in English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Polish, Portuguese, Russian, Yiddish and Spanish. Tours are approximately 90 minutes in length and can be tailor-designed to meet the needs and interests of a particular group.

Family Adventure: The Routes of Your Roots

This program offers an intergenerational experience that is suitable for family groups. It aims to create a dialogue between parents and children about Jewish events, to enable a better appreciation of their Jewish heritage, and, by stressing their roots, to encourage the study of their own family history. A version of this program is available for all adult groups as well. 
The program includes: guided tour of the Museum, movie about Jewish genealogy, and information on the participants’ family names and history of Jewish communities. Search query forms to research the databases of family names and Jewish communities may be filled out in advance.
The program is available in English, Spanish, French and Russian

Mosaic of the Jewish People

In this fast-paced program with actors from historical periods and with a Klezmer playing a variety of “Jewish” music, participants uncover the differences among the Jewish people and find the similarities. The program allows for an interactive look at the Jewish world and provides tools for introspection to decide if we are really one people in spite of the differences that are part of the multitude of ethnic groups.  The program makes use of the vast resources of our multimedia center with films, music and pictures from communities the world over. The program includes a guided tour of the Museum focusing on the lifestyles of Jewish communities and with films historic portrayals by actors in period costume. Live Klezmerim can be added to the program for additional cost.
The program is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.

Dilemmas of the Jewish People: Yesterday, Today, and Tomorrow

The program presents the dilemmas of the Jewish People throughout history. It examines why there have been dilemmas, how different communities and their leaders related to dilemmas, and the success or grappling with them. It also deals with modern day dilemmas for Jews and communities throughout the world.  Examples of dilemmas include:

  • Responses to physical threats against the Jewish state
  • The interaction between the Jewish community and its surroundings
  • Facing tests of loyalty to one’s religion versus  to one's country of residence
  • Choosing how to express one’s Jewish identity

The program includes: a guided tour examining dilemmas of the individual and communities, film and discussion

Prices

Private guided tours (1 and1/2 hours) for groups of up to ten people cost NIS 130, plus admission for each participant (40 NIS). Guided tour for groups of more than 10 people cost NIS 40 per person. Prices for special programs are 49 NIS per person. Special rates available for travel agents.  Guided tours must be booked in advance.
