לשון המלאיאלאם קרובה לשפה הטמילית, ושייכת למשפחת הלשונות הדראווידיות שמדוברות בעיקר באזורים הדרומיים של הודו. יהודי קוצ'ין והסביבה השתמשו בסוג מיוחד של מלאיאלאם ביומיום במשך מאות שנים. מלאיאלאם-יהודית מתאפיינת במלים שאולות מעברית, ובשרידים דראווידיים באוצר המלים, בפונולוגיה, ובתחביר. היא נכתבת באותיות עבריות. יש מעט מאד דוברי מלאיאלאם-יהודית בהודו, והיתר נמצאים בעיקר בישראל.

ערבית-יהודית מכילה כמה ניבים של ערבית מדוברת, כזו שהייתה שגורה בפי יהודים שחיו בארצות דוברות ערבית. הכוונה לעיראקית-יהודית, עיראקית בגדאדית-יהודית, "עראבי", יהודיך", מרוקנית-יהודית, טריפוליטאית-יהודית , אלג'ירית-יהודית , טוניסאית-יהודית, תימנית-יהודית, וכמה ניבים מצפון סוריה, בעיקר מאזור חלב. כווריאנט של ערבית היא משתייכת למשפחת הלשונות השמיות, אך שלא כמו הערבית, היא נכתבת באותיות עבריות. היא הייתה בשימוש באזור גדול מאד, מקהילות ישראל במרוקו ועד תימן ועיראק, במשך כאלף שנים. בתחילת המאה העשרים היו מאות אלפי דוברים של ערבית-יהודית. מספרם פחת מאד בשל ההגירה ההמונית של היהודים מארצות ערב. פחות ממאה אלף אנשים דוברים כיום ערבית-יהודית, רובם דו-לשונים החיים בישראל. יש עדיין מעט דוברי ערבית-יהודית בצרפת, בקנדה, בארה"ב, באנגליה, במקסיקו, ובעוד קהילות קטנות.

בברברית-יהודית דיברו בעבר בקהילות יהודיות באטלס הגבוה, באזור בטיפנוט והסביבה. השפות והניבים הברברים, בהם משתמשים באזור גדול ממערב מצרים ועד מאוריטניה, נולדו מהלשונות הילידיות של צפון אפריקה ושייכות לקבוצה הברברו-לובית של משפחת הלשונות האפרו-אסיאתיות (לפנים חמיות-שמיות). בקרב דוברי הברברית בצפון אפריקה היו גם קהילות יהודיות עוד מעת העתיקה. עד לאמצע המאה העשרים דיברו יהודים בקהילות כפריות בהרי האטלס בניבים וסוגים שונים של ברברית. ברברית-יהודית נכתבת באותיות עבריות. בעת המודרנית, כל דוברי השפה הם כנראה דוברים ילידיים של ערבית ו/או ערבית-יהודית. בעקבות ההגירה ההמונית של היהודים מארצות ערב בצפון אפריקה, כיום מדברים ברברית-יהודית רק מעטים, בעיקר בישראל ובצרפת.

פורטוגלית-יהודית
בלשון זו השתמשו יהודי פורטוגל קודם למאה ה-16, וגם צאצאיהם אחרי גירוש פורטוגל, בעיקר בקהילות אמסטרדם, הולנד, ליבורנו, איטליה, במאה ה-18.פורטוגלית-יהודית נכתבה באותיות עבריות, ולעתים גם בלטינית. במאה ה-19 מתה השפה ואינה עוד בשימוש.

פרובנסאלית-יהודית היא לשון אוקסיטאנו-רומאנית בה דיברו בקהילות היהודיות של דרום צרפת בימי הביניים, ובתחילת העת החדשה בעיקר באזור אביניון, שהיה זמן רב תחת שלטון האפיפיורים. אחרון דוברי הלשון השואדית נפטר בשנת 1977.

סלאבית-יהודית הייתה לשון סלאבית מערבית בה דיברו יהודים שחיו בימי הביניים במרכז אירופה, בארצות דוברות סלאבית, בערך ברפובליקה הצ'כית דהיום. בשם כנענית קראו בעיקר לסלאבית-יהודית הקרובה ביותר לצ'כית עתיקה. אך היו גם סוגים אחרים. כולם נעלמו בשלהי ימי הביניים.
ספרדית-יהודית / לדינו
נקראת גם: ג'ודזמו, חאכיתיה, ספניולית, אל קסטיאנו מואסטרו.
לדינו מבוססת על הניב הקסטיליאני הימיביניימי של הספרדית, עם אוצר מילים גדול שאול מעברית, מערבית, מתורכית, מיוונית, מפורטוגלית, מאיטלקית ומלשונות סלאביות של הבלקן. מידת החדירה של מילים מכל שפה משתנה מניב לניב. לדינו הייתה שפת אמם של יהודים ספרדים בתורכיה ובארצות הבלקן, ונחלקה לניב סלוניקי, איסטנבול, בולגריה, מקדוניה, וירושלים. חאכיתיה הייתה לשונם של יהודים ספרדים באזור תטואן ואוראן בצפון אפריקה (כיום במרוקו ואלג'יריה). לדינו כותבים באותיות עבריות. בעת החדשה משתמשים לעתים גם באותיות לטינית, בעיקר בעיתונים. כיום יש כרבע מיליון דוברי לדינו, בתורכיה, ביוון, בישראל, בארגנטינה ובארה"ב.

זוהי לשונם הילידית של "יהודי ההרים" - קהילה יהודית עתיקה באזור דגסטן בקווקז. כותבים אותה באותיות קיריליות, ולאחרונה גם באותיות עבריות. משנת 1930 ועד 1940 יצאו לאור יצירות ספרות בטאט-יהודית בכתב לטיני. היא בשימוש ברפובליקה של דגסטן, הפדרציה הרוסית, וגם בישראל.

לשונם של בני הקהילה הקראית בליטא. שייכת לקבוצה הלשונות התורכיות וקרובה לקרצ'אי ולקומיק. כותבים אותה באותיות קיריליות ועבריות. בשלהי המאה העשרים היו פחות מחמש מאות דוברי קראית, בעיקר בליטא, באוקראינה, ובישראל.

יידיש
נקראת גם: גרמנית-יהודית, ז'רגון.
יידיש היא ללא ספק הלשון היהודית הנודעת ביותר בתפוצות. היא צמחה בארצות מערב ומרכז אירופה בימי הביניים, ומשם הגיעה למזרח אירופה. היא מבוססת על ניבים דרומיים של גרמנית ימיביניימית, עם מלים רבות מאד שאולות מעברית, מארמית, מצרפתית עתיקה, ומלטינית. בהמשך נוספו גם מילים מלשונות סלאביות (פולנית, אוקראינית, רוסית ועוד), מליטאית, רומנית והונגרית. היידיש נחלקת לכמה ניבים: יידיש מערבית, בה דיברו בצרפת, בגרמניה ובארצות השפלה; יידיש ליטאית, בה דיברו באזור וילנה והסביבה, באזורים אחרים בליטא ובבלרוס, ובחלקים מצפון מזרח פולין; יידיש דרום מזרחית, נקראת גם אוקראינית-מולדבית, בה השתמשו במזרח גליציה, באוקראינה, בבוקובינה, בבסרביה וברומניה;. יידיש מרכז פולין; ויידיש מרכז אירופית של מורביה, סלובקיה, חלקים מהונגריה, ואוסטריה. המהגרים היהודים הביאו עמם את היידיש לכל קצוות תבל: למערב אירופה, לצפון אמריקה, דרום אמריקה, דרום אפריקה, ישראל, אוסטרליה, ועוד. יידיש בת זמננו הושפעה מאד מהאנגלית בארצות צפון אמריקה, ומן העברית, בישראל. היידיש היא השפה הרשמית של האוטונומיה היהודית בבירוביג'אן, הפדרציה הרוסית. יידיש כותבים באלף-בית עברי בשינויים פונטיים. יש לה מסורת ספרותית ארוכה ועשירה. לפני השואה היו בעולם כעשרה מיליון דוברי יידיש כשפת אם, וזו ללא ספק השפה היהודית בעלת מספר הדוברים הגדול ביותר. כיום חיים דוברי יידיש בעיקר בארה"ב, ישראל, קנדה, מקסיקו, ארגנטינה, ברזיל, בלגיה, וגם בקהילות אחרות (במספרים קטנים יותר).
