Routes of My Roots

A program suitable for adults on their own as well for family groups. It will help both the younger and the older generations to obtain a better appreciation of their Jewish Heritage and by stressing their roots will offer them an unforgettable experience.
The program includes:

  • Special activities for the youngsters
  • Guided tour of the Museum emphasizing the Routes of their Roots
  • Movie about Jewish genealogy
  • Presentation of The Douglas E. Goldman Genealogy Center of Beth Hatefutsoth and the museum’s database contribution on enabling connections with relatives from all over the world
  • Printouts with information on the participants’ family names and history of Jewish communities in the Diaspora of their choice

The program is available in English and Spanish.
Duration: 2 hours
Option: Forms for the search of Family Names and Jewish Communities may be filled out in advance.
Admission fee: NIS 42

Family Adventure

This program offers an intergenerational experience that is suitable for adults as well as for family groups. It aims to create a dialogue between parents and children about Jewish events, to enable a better appreciation of their Jewish Heritage, and, by stressing their roots, to encourage the study of their own family history.
The program includes:

  • Special activities for the youngsters
  • Guided tour of the Museum emphasizing the Routes of their Roots
  • Movie about Jewish genealogy
  • Printouts with information on the participants’ family names and history of Jewish communities in the Diaspora of their choice

The program is available in English and Spanish

Jewish Identity

This program offers the participants an opportunity to learn about and define for themselves the complexity of their own Jewish identity and discuss such topical issues as assimilation, intermarriage, continuity and others facing the Jewish world today.
The program includes:

  • Guided tour of the Museum focused on the lifestyles of different Jewish communities throughout history: Spain, Poland, Yemen, Italy etc.
  • Viewing of "Directions" - a movie produced by Beth Hatefutsoth
  • Discussion groups
  • Search in museum’s databases of family names and history of Jewish communities

The program is available in: English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese, Russian, and Spanish
Duration: 4 hours. This program is also available in a longer version of 6-7 hours and is suitable for groups with a special interest in the subject of Jewish Identity

Mosaic of the Jewish People

How did the lifestyles and culture of the different Jewish communities around the world come into being? The culture of a people dispersed to the four corners of the earth was influenced in each community by the surrounding civilization thus creating an immense diversity. Israel, as the home to Jews from so many diverse communities, derived a specific culture that reflects these many different traditions.
The program includes:

  • Guided tour of the Museum focused on the lifestyles of different Jewish communities throughout history
  • Jewish stories from around the world
  • Viewing of two short filmsDiscussion groups
  • Historic portrayals by actors in period costumeDiscussion Groups
  • Discussion groups

The program is available in English, French, German, Italian, Portuguese, and Spanish.
