younger and the older generations to obtain a better appreciation of their
Jewish Heritage and by stressing their roots will offer them an

- Movie about Jewish genealogy
- Presentation of

Goldman Genealogy Center of Beth
Hatefutsoth and the museum’s database contribution on enabling
connections with relatives from all over the world
- Printouts with information on the
participants’
family names and history of Jewish
communities in the Diaspora of their
choice

their own Jewish identity and discuss such topical issues as assimilation,
intermarriage, continuity and others facing the Jewish world today.
The program includes:

lifestyles of different
Jewish communities
throughout history: Spain, Poland, Yemen, Italy
etc.
- Viewing of
"Directions"
- a movie produced by Beth Hatefutsoth
- Discussion groups
- Search in museum’s databases of
family names
and history of
Jewish communities
The program is
available in: English, French, German, Hungarian, Italian, Portuguese,
Russian, and Spanish
Duration: 4 hours. This program is also available in a longer
version of 6-7 hours and is suitable for groups with a special interest in
the subject of Jewish Identity

How did the lifestyles and
culture of the different Jewish communities around the world come into
being? The culture of a people dispersed to the four corners of the earth
was influenced in each community by the surrounding civilization thus
creating an immense diversity. Israel, as the home to Jews from so many
diverse communities, derived a specific culture that reflects these many
different traditions.
