Beit Hatefutsot – Strengthening ties with the Bavarian Parliament

Enia Zeevi Kupfer, Director of the European Desk in the Department of External Relations of Beit Hatfutsot, was an honored guest of the Bavarian State Parliament. The Parliament organized an "Israel Study Day" which was held in March of this year.

Attended by the President of the Parliament, Ms. Barbara Stamm, greetings were given by Tibor Shalev Schlosser, Consul General of the State of Israel and Mr. Martin Güll, Chairman of the Committee for Education, Youth and Sport.

Dr. Noa Mkayton, of "Yad Vashem" spoke on “The Culture of Remembrance and the Future of Memorial Site Pedagogy”.

Ms. Zeevi Kupfer of Beit Hatfutsot presented an overview on "Jewish Peoplehood-Identity and Integration", which was warmly received by the audience. As a result of her presentation, high level members of the parliament and Ministry of Education said they would like to visit Beit Hatfutsot.  They want to expand their knowledge on solutions to problems of youth integrating into a new culture and society. This, as Enia stated, is one topic that Israel and the Jewish people have vast experience in.

We believe that this will open the door to a closer bilateral relationship with the Bavarian Government in promoting and funding joint projects with Beit Hatfutsot for the benefit of the youth in both countries.
