Distinguished Guests from Austria Visit BH
A delegation of distinguished Austrians including Dr. Christoph Kainz, the Vice Chairman of the Board of Trustees of the Zukunfonds of the Republic of Austria, (The Future Fund of the Republic of Austria which subsidizes scientific and pedagogical projects that foster tolerance and mutual understanding regarding the sufferings caused by the Nazi regime on the territory of present-day Austria) Zukunfonds' Director Moshe Jahoda, and Austrian Cultural Attache in Israel Mag. Gabriele Feigl visited Beit Hatfutsot in April. They met with Beit Hatfutsot CEO Avinoam Armoni and European Desk Director Enia Kupfer to discuss the possibility of receiving Zukunfonds sponsorship to add a model of a synagogue that was burnt in Vienna during Kristallnacht to the famous synagogue model collection in the Beit Hatfutsot permanent exhibition.
Ms. Kupfer had previously met in Austria with Prof. Herwig Hossele, Secretary General of the Zukunfonds to explore potential collaboration for this important project. While at Beit Hatfutsot, the guests visited "The Game of their Lives" exhibition as well as the permanent exhibition, and were especially impressed with the synagogue models. They learned about the Beit Hatfutsot renewal process and the transformation of Beit Hatfutsot into the Museum of the Jewish People. Dr. Kainz particularly identified with the Beit Hatfutsot motto: You are part of the story!
