Radauti,
this former typical shtetl located in Bukovina, had at the time when
this picture was taken less than 500 Jews. A circumcision was indeed a real
event for this small community of aged people and a mitzvah that was
not easy to fulfill given the fact that by then only a small number of people
who could perform the rites were left in the country.
