The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood
About the School
The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood was established in November 2006 through the support and initiative of the Nadav Foundation. In 2017, the school received a generous grant from the Koret Foundation, which allows it to expand and further its outreach, programs and projects.
The school develops the discipline of Jewish Peoplehood Studies, as well as training and teaching the museum guides, developing educational curricula and activity programs, and offers enrichment programs and a variety of programs in this field for educators, students, soldiers, schools, informal education groups, and educational groups visiting Israel on short – and long-term programs.
The educational work is based on the rich exhibitions and databases of Beit Hatfutsot.
The goals of the School are to:
- Instill a Jewish Peoplehood consciousness among the young generation of Jews in Israel and around the world
- Foster involvement with and commitment to the Jewish people as part of their Jewish identities
- Place education for Jewish Peoplehood on the educational agenda in Israel and in Jewish communities around the world.
The School works in cooperation with the Ministry of Education, teacher training institutes, teacher in-service training programs, the School of Education at Tel Aviv University and Jewish educational groups around the world.
About Jewish Peoplehood
The Museum of the Jewish People at Beit Hatfutsot is more than a museum. It is a national center for Jewish communities in Israel and worldwide, which tells the unique and ongoing story of the Jewish People. It is also a story in constant renewal. Beit Hatfutsot provides the next generation with a key to understanding their Jewish identity and to reinforcing their sense of belonging to the Jewish People.
The Koret International School for Jewish Peoplehood at Beit Hatfutsot educates towards a sense of belonging and commitment to the Jewish world that reflects itself in action. Our mission is promoting Jewish Peoplehood, strengthening one’s Jewish identity and connecting worldwide Jewish communities, so that everyone feels a part of the broader, ongoing story of the Jewish People.
Jewish Peoplehood refers to the awareness and identification of Jewish individuals to the collective Jewish People via various common components: historical memory, Jewish values, Jewish culture and creativity, Hebrew and Jewish languages, a multifaceted connection to Israel and a Jewish way of life.
