In cooperation with Új Kelet – an independent Israeli newspaper in Hungarian

Thursday, January 4 at 7pm

Greetings: Ms. Eva Vadasz, Editor in Chief of Új Kelet

Program:

Mr. Haim Ghiuzeli: Family names of Hungarian Jews. Understanding the meaning and origin of family names, and the circumstances under which they were accepted by the Jews of Hungary is essential in order to answer these questions: How did my family got our family name? what can we learn from it about the family’s history and identity?

Ms. Rivka Aderet: Films from Beit Hatfutsot Collection: rare documentary films from the 1930’s, describing different aspects of Jewish everyday life in Budapest, Szeged, Munkacs and a few small towns; as well as contemporary films that shed new light on Jewish life in Hungary back in the old times.
