A special evening dedicated to films from Beit Hatfutsot collections, documenting Jewish life in Poland. Two films in Yiddish (Hebrew subtitles), the first about Jewish Warsaw a few months before the outbreak of World War II, the other produced in Warsaw on the occasion of the 5th anniversary of the Warsaw Ghetto Uprising. Other films that will be screened: films made by Jewish American who came back to visit their home towns in Poland during the 1920’s and 1930’s; contemporary documentaries about communities that no longer exist; films from Yiddish cinema in various periods.
In the first part of the evening, Haim Ghiuzeli will analyze Jewish family names from Poland and their origins.
