Young Diplomats Visit Beit Hatfutsot
Beit Hatfutsot recently had the honor of hosting an event for AJC’s Young Diplomats, welcoming participants from Australia, Canada, Chile, Colombia, Costa Rica, Croatia, Egypt, El Salvador, the EU, Finland, Italy, Japan, Lithuania, Jordan, Norway, the Philippines, Poland, Romania, Sweden, Thailand, the UK and the US. Holding a variety of positions at their consulates, these diplomats, ages 25-45, took this event as an opportunity to learn more about the Jewish people.
Shay Avshalom Zavdi, Manager of ACCESS Israel at the AJC, who organized the visit concluded:
“At Beit Hatfutsot the diplomats relished a once in a lifetime journey through the history and culture of the Jewish people with an emphasis on the richness and depth of global Judaism today.”
The consular guests were given a tour of both the Core Exhibition and the New Wing of the Museum (opened in May 2016). They were introduced to key events in Jewish history and discovered the Jewish people’s longstanding ability to shape their collective memory and identity. The tour offered a perspective on how external influences, plurality and diversity have been a source of strength for the Jewish People.
