Members of the German Bundestag Visit Beit Hatfutsot

Mrs. Petra Pau, Vice President of the Bundestag, Germany, accepted the invitation of Enia Zeevi Kupfer, Director of the European Desk of Beit Hatfutsot to visit the Museum on their next visit to Israel. Mrs. Pau, joined by her Parliamentarian aides, arrived on February 17th, and received a firsthand explanation by Beit Hatfutsot CEO, Dan Tadmor, on the renewal project of The Museum of the Jewish People.  The special guests received an update on the planned new Core Exhibition and on the “Online Museum of the Jewish People” project, in which Jews from around the world will soon be able to enter details of their family genealogy via their personal computers, ensuring conservation of this data for future generations.

Petra was born in what was once East Germany. She noted with pride that in a most welcome move, a synagogue was inaugurated in the town of Cottbus, in the State of Brandenburg. The building was donated by the church to serve as the Jewish center for the 400 members of the community who emigrated from the ex-Soviet Union.
