Our Family Story
Each family has its own story!
Every family has its own special story. At The Museum of the Jewish People at Beit Hatfutsot, we aim to collect all of the diverse family stories from around the Jewish world. We invite you to explore your own family story, and make an artistic display to capture and pass it on to others. We at Beit Hatfutsot will upload these artistic displays to our website to share with the world.
How do we start?
Think of a theme that connects with your family that you would like to expand to an artistic display. Suggested themes include:
Characters and personalities in the family
Stories of migration and immigration
Jewish calendar: holidays and traditions you celebrate throughout the year
Jewish life cycle: brit milah, bar/bat mitzvah, wedding, remembrances
Leisure time in past generations: childhood games, family songs
Special family events
Think of what type of artistic display you’d would like to create. Consider what materials you already have available at home. Suggestions for types of artistic displays:
Written: family newspaper, comics, a box of letters, calendar
Roots album: photo or written album
Art: painting, sculpture, poster, collage, family play
Media: movie, animated short, song, online blog, computer game
After your artistic display is finished, give it a title. Take a 1-minute video of yourself explaining the project, while showing the project from multiple angles. In the video, tell us why you chose a particular theme, what story it shares about your family, and how that connects with your family today in 2020.

Send us the video via WeTransfer to [email protected]. Please include your full name, phone and where you’re from. We will upload projects to the Beit Hatfutsot website. If you prefer that your video not be uploaded, please let us know via email. Looking forward to hearing your unique family story!
