“Best known for his shot of Russian soldiers hoisting their flag over the Reichstag as Berlin fell in 1945, Yevgeny Khaldei was Russia’s greatest combat photographer, a 20th-century master.” (New York Times) The exhibit aptly titled Icons of War presents 90 powerful photographs of Stalin and Goering and the bonus of Khaldei’s iconic “Raising the Soviet Flag Over the Reichstag.” They include primary commentary by the artist himself, and some images are published here for the first time. Also features a foreword by Prime Minister Ehud Barak as well as essays by historian Matitiahu Mayzel and curator Rachel Schnold.
